Objectives

  • To scout, recognise, acknowledge and felicitate the CSR good sustainable development practices in North-East India aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India;

  • Collate, build, and share evidence in CSR practices for research, knowledge building, and sharing;

  • Provide a platform to exchange, share and network amongst the CSR practitioners, stakeholders, and doers in the region for meaningful engagement and collaboration;

  • Contribute, build and strengthen a robust CSR ecosystem in the region with improved processes, governance, implementation, output, outcome, and impact;

2nd North East CSR Award 2024

Nominations and applications are invited for the 2nd North East CSR Award 2024. Projects applied should be implemented on ground for at least 12 months and projects implemented during 2021-2024 are eligible to apply

CSR Award Categories

The CSR Awards recognise outstanding initiatives that have made a meaningful impact in North East India. Categories highlight excellence across sectors such as health, education, livelihoods, environment, and inclusive development, celebrating organisations that drive positive change through responsible and innovative CSR practices.

CSR Initiative in Education & Learning

Nominations are invited for impactful CSR initiatives that strengthen education & learning in NE India through innovative methods, beyond just infrastructure.

Nominations are invited for impactful CSR initiatives in North East India that promote education and learning through innovative approaches such as pedagogy, STEM, digital learning, mental health, vocational training, and more—beyond just infrastructure support.

CSR Initiative in Health & Well Being

Nominations are invited for CSR initiatives that enhance healthcare access in North East India through infrastructure, medical support, and preventive care like awareness, screenings, and nutrition education.

We also encourage entries focusing on mental health, tele-health innovations, and partnerships with NGOs or public institutions that ensure long-term, sustainable impact in the health sector.

CSR Initiative in Livelihood & Employment Generation

This award honors CSR initiatives that boost livelihoods and employment in North East India through skill development, micro-finance, and improved sectoral connectivity.

Initiatives that build market linkages for artisans and farmers, or promote sustainable livelihoods through eco-tourism, organic farming, renewable energy, and other innovative models are also encouraged.

CSR Initiative in Skill Development & Entrepreneurship

This category invites CSR initiatives that fuel entrepreneurial aspirations in North East India by equipping youth, women, & communities with industry-relevant skills to succeed in formal jobs or start their own.

It also includes mentorship, incubation support, and micro-finance schemes that empower individuals—especially women—to access capital, networks, and guidance needed to build and sustain their enterprises.

CSR Initiative in Environment & Climate Change

The Green Guardian CSR Award celebrates outstanding CSR initiatives that tackle environmental challenges and promote climate resilience in North East India.

Eligible projects may include biodiversity conservation, renewable energy adoption in rural areas, climate-smart agriculture, and innovative waste management solutions that contribute to a sustainable, circular economy.

CSR Initiative in Agriculture & Rural Development

The “Cultivating the Future” Award recognizes exceptional CSR initiatives that strengthen agriculture and rural development in North East India.

Eligible efforts include training farmers in sustainable practices, supporting post-harvest management, enabling micro-finance for rural communities—especially women, creating market linkages, and promoting agri-preneurship through ventures like organic farming, farm tourism, and food processing.

CSR Initiative in Youth & Women Empowerment

The “Empowering Change” Award honors impactful CSR initiatives that uplift youth and women in North East India through skill development, financial empowerment, and leadership support.

Recognized efforts may include vocational training for better employment or entrepreneurship, financial literacy programs to foster independence, and mentorship initiatives that connect young individuals with role models to build confidence and leadership.

CSR Initiative in Art, Culture & Tourism

The “Celebrating Heritage” Award honors CSR initiatives that preserve and promote the rich art, culture, and tourism of North East India.

Eligible efforts include restoring historical sites, preserving traditional crafts and indigenous art, supporting local artisans with skills and market access, and promoting sustainable tourism that benefits communities and protects the environment.

CSR Initiative in Sports & Music

This category celebrates CSR initiatives that promote the dynamic sports and music culture of North East India.

Recognized efforts may include grassroots sports development with coaching and infrastructure, promotion of traditional music and dance through workshops and mentorship, and the creation of cultural spaces that empower local artists and boost cultural tourism.

CSR Initiative in Digital Inclusion & Empowerment

The “Bridging the Digital Divide” Award honors CSR initiatives that promote digital literacy and inclusion in North East India.

Eligible efforts include digital skills training, expanding low-cost internet access, providing devices to schools and communities, and developing local-language digital content to empower diverse and remote populations.

Eligibility

  1. CSRs applying for North East CSR Award must have business operations/presence in the North-East Region (NER);

  2. CSRs and donors have no business operations or presence in the region but the corporates that have CSR programmes in the North-East are eligible;

  3. Companies registered under The Companies Act 2013 and compliant with Section 135 of the Act eligible;

  4. All corporates who are compliant to the rules and regulations of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, especially under CSR Act of 2013 and its various provisions.

  5. Projects and interventions during the period 2019-2021 (3 years) are eligible to apply.

North East CSR Award Jury

The jury of the North East CSR Award 2024 will be held in two phases.

  1. Pre-screening of nominations / applications and shortlisting of nominations based on criteria.
  2. Final Jury process shall be held on offline mode with presentations by shortlisted finalists before a panel of experts.

The final event to be held offline in Guwahati in December7, 2024, in Guwahati, Assam.
